Spend to Save

I returned eight printer ink cartridges to the office supply store so they could be recycled. I also thought I would get a credit on my purchase of new cartridges. Step one is join the rewards club. Ugh, more email. Step two is wait 31 days—which seems awfully specific—for an emailed coupon for $16. So I can’t save money on my current purchase, but I have to come back and spend more money. Makes sense as a way to drive store traffic, but it’s not a great way to welcome someone to a rewards program.
