I went to pick up something from one of Deborah’s old neighbors and I realized that it was the first time I had driven in that direction since Deborah moved in July. I stopped going to Whole Foods—which is in that direction—and just about every place else during the pandemic. There’s new construction I haven’t seen. There’s completed construction I haven’t seen. It almost felt like I’ve been out of the country for five months.
