Good Morning, Buck

These days I wake up way too early and it is still dark outside. As the sun comes up I make sure to go to the back door and see if any deer are beyond the fence. I think I see movement and maybe the tips of antlers just above the fence.

He picks his head up and it is one of the largest bucks I have ever seen. His body is muscular and stout. His fur is dark for the winter. And his antlers grow from the two points on his head and continue to branch and branch.

He stares at me through the window and I stare right back. Holding my breathe and keeping very still. Good morning, buck.
