I am no longer surprise when I see a coyote in the woods behind my house, but I was surprised when I saw two. They were different sizes, so I assume it was a male and a female. The bigger one was leading the way.
It came right up to the fence and stared towards the house. I don't know if it could see me through the window, but I stayed very still. It turned and walked on. The smaller one, the likely female, followed. When it reached a downed tree, rather than jump over it, the coyote jumped up on it and walked along it like a kid on a walk in the woods.
The two of them just continued on into the woods. Their coloring makes them easily blend into the winter woods, so they disappeared within moments of passing my yard.
