Burning Giraffes and Telephones

The title of this blog post is also the title of a painting by Salvador Dali. I was thinking about two things that go together and I wanted to avoid all of the cliches. This is a rare case that a surrealistic painting has a straightforward meaning. The burning giraffes represent the coming of World War II and the telephone is a means to transmit that message.

I wanted to write about Dogs and Pickup Trucks and wanted a better title. There is nothing surreal about that at all. Forget the cliches about them appearing in every country song. But they do appear in nearly every house, driveway and garage of the homes in our new neighborhood in Tennessee.
