Bird Inside

I saw movement in my office out of the corner of my eye and it didn’t seem to be outside. I walked into the room and saw a sparrow over my desk. It had flown in through the back door that I leave open for the cat to go in and out. As I approached the bird, it flew from one window to the next, moving towards the door.

I have only ever coaxed insects or moths to move towards the open door, and they are often confused by the windows on the way. I usually have to use a magazine or a piece of mail to encourage them to move in the right direction. I know that they are attracted to the light, but I just can’t explain the difference to them between a window and a door. The bird understood. It flew out the barely open door with no coaxing from me.
