Tropical Storm Hanna

The eye of Tropical Storm Hanna blew in over the North Carolina coast around 2am, while the outer bands started arrived Friday evening. Here in the Triangle, we got about 5 inches of rain, with winds gusting to 25 mph. There was some flooding in the area, but very little damage. This was my first major storm in my new house, which is located on the edge of a flood plain in Durham, North Carolina. My lot backs up to the woods, and the flood plain crosses across the back half of my lot.

I documented the back corner of my backyard, the lowest point of my property, over the morning as the water rose, and started to recede.

I also shot pictures and four short videos of the water flowing through the flood plain in the woods. Here’s a link to all the photos from this morning on Flickr. Below is one video followed by links to the others.
